Looking back at the Minnesota game the OL played lights out in the first quarter allowing Brees time to make his throws and opening up beautiful running lanes for our backs.

Come the second quarter Minnesota obviously made some adjustments on defense that shut down the Saints offense until Captain Munnerly's personal foul at the end of the 3rd quarter. See play by play here.

What kind of adjustments did Minnesota make during the 2nd and 3rd quarters to make the Saints offense go limp?

1st and 2nd drives we converted our 3rd down play
3rd drive we had a holding penalty. 2nd and 20 against any NFL team is hard to overcome
4th drive we couldn't convert a 3rd and 1 but that's still a good situation to be in
5th drive, 6th, and 7th drive they pushed our shite in….then Captain gave us the game with his stupid penalty. Woke us up then we went beast mode to finish the 7th drive and dominated our last drive

I guess you have to expect this to happen, after all the guys lining up on the other side of the ball are pros too.

I don't know if this is correct but I thought I heard one of the commentators make the comment that what the Vikings did to slow the Saints O down during these drives was to force Brees to throw from a point that he is a little more uncomfortable throwing from. In other words, if Brees is allowed to set up and throw from a point he's accustomed he can complete 90% of his throws. However if that spot is defended, Brees has to take more time to adjust (which he does very well) and more time to execute the play which leads to a lower completion percentage (like 55%). I thought that was a interesting point. Did you hear that?

Hmm that is interesting. Take away the middle of the field would be my non-expert analysis. Drew doesn't have many 1st looks at the sideline. Colston, Cooks, and Jimmy are almost always in the slot or near the LOS.

They were pushing the pocket in at the center, the interior, preventing Drew from doing his little shuffle feet move and stepping up to make his throw. Drew will often hit that classic QB stance/pose, and then he'll kind of scoot a step or two out of the way of the big bad linemen, THEN goose it a step or two forward, back towards the line of scrimmage, to clear a lane or open up a sight line. He is a little guy, after all. Pressure in the middle, the center, decreases his ability to do that and get that 2-3 steps forward as part of his throw.

Holding and a drop killed the 2nd quarter. I agree with you about the 3rd
