LSU 40 #9 Washington 14. 82,390 was the announced attendance. I was a SR at LSU and what was odd was even though there were people sitting in the aisles The Reveille said on Tuesday the student section wasn't full. Yet, Tiger Stadium had its largest crowd. No one ever figured out or knew what it was about this game that set a mark. The epic '79 Southern Cal game nor any conference games were listed at over 80,000. It was unseasonably cool that week so maybe that played a role. Who knows.

And,in addition to a record crowd it was on Tigervision.

I was in the SS. Crowded as all get-out. People jammed in the seats and stairs were full.

I believe that game was what ended the policy of just showing student ID to enter games.

I seem to remember there was some special offer for student section tickets for non-LSU student dates. I know my roommate and I brought dates who were not LSU students.

The overflow student section and Washington being ranked as a top 10 team meant a record crowd. And then we proceeded to kick their butts which made it a great night.

I was there. It was packed in the student section.

Washington couldn't handle the crowd noise or the speed of Gary James. We mostly ran the toss to James all night! Don James talked about Tiger Stadium for years after that.

My sophomore year.
Only time I have """"""""""EVER""""""""""" seen people actually sitting on the aisle steps all over the NEZ.

Washington was a preseason top 5 team. LSU was coming off of an Orange Bowl the previous season. This was still early in the year, so expectations were very high, and even though they already had one loss, Washington was supposed to be a very good opponent.

Cool info. I was still in high school but knew three guys from my school on the team. (Dale, Chatman, and Campbell)

Total BS. I was in there, and it was overflowing.
All the vertical and horizontal aisles were full.
