Why isn't a QB spike intentional grounding?

Don't give the NFL any ideas for new rules.

That is only true for the NFL. Not any other level of football. Technically he has a legit question regarding college and below.

Why can't linemen catch the ball but receivers and running back can??

It's not fair.

No that's a pretty terrible question. If you dont know holders have an exception built into the rules then you just started watching football. seriously.

Holder's knee was on the ground for Colt David's FFG TD against SC in 07, right? I think the exception for the holder should only count if the ball is kicked. If you're going to run a regular play, his knee shouldn't be allowed to touch.

NFL- down by contact, holders are not down by contact. If a player gives themselves up they are down.

NCAA has a rule that allows holder's knee to be down.

not trying to avoid loss of yardage(sack)

Why is it called shotgun formation when guns are bad? Why is it called a lateral when it's not? Why is the player called a tackle when he can't? Why is he still called the center on an unbalanced line? Why is it called a chop block when nobody got chopped? Why is it called a touchdown when the player stayed up, not down ? Why is it called a field goal if the ball leaves the field?

Why aren't kickers offside on kickoffs when their plant foot extends beyond the ball before the ball is kicked?

Imagine the holder's knee is 1 inch above the ground. Then it moves half the distance to be 0.5 inches. Then it moves half the distance again to be 0.25 inches etc. etc.

You will realize, through math, that the number never ever reaches zero.

Therefore, his knee never touches the ground.

There, I proved it through math.

Because kickers are given what we in the industry like to call "backward progress." Whatever part of their body farthest behind their line of scrimmage is where they are marked
