Shooting In Houma Involving Police

A police officer has fatally shot a teenager on Kirkglen Loop in the Village East area of Houma,State Police confirmed tonight.

Three other teenagers were taken into custody, police said.

The victim's identity hasn't been released, sheriff's spokeswoman Dawn Foret said.

The shooting happened about 5:30 p.m. after police were called to an abandoned home that was reported to be burglarized, said State Police spokesman Evan Harrell.

There was an altercation at the home before the shooting, Harrell said.

Harrell said the juvenile was under age 15. State Police are handling the investigation.
