He probably just earned a bonus. He's not employed to be tame. They didn't give him his own site, with it's own branding and shite loads of promotion so that they could just let him fade into obscurity. He's a popular writer and sportscaster who talks about football as a fan. Pretty much fricking nailed it with that rant too. Goodell did lie. It's everyone's word against his.

I guess that's the most annoying part of the whole thing

he has hammered people for every little thing acting like a sanctimonious sack of shite, then when his arse is in the frying pan he lies, lies repeatedly and lies on instinct, and it's even worse because we all know he's lying.

That's separate from my belief that bountygate was a PR smear campaign, a giant lie that he sold poorly.

He's just a lying piece of shite. To make matters worse you STILL have florio, mort, peter king just selling him as this awesome guy who is incapable of such deception and the fans who buy it.

What did Roger Goodell ever do to earn this reputation as a boy scout? Seriously, what the frick has he done that he is given the benefit of the doubt by so many people when he is clearly lying through his teeth? He just hammered other people for their mistakes, the why and poor reasoning behind the PCP is irrelevant, and somehow him condemning others has earned him a reputation as some model citizen.

What a crock. Simmons is right. There isn't even a question about it. When the fact that the league had seen the tape was almost trivial to everyone (though they used that to essentially smear a victim of domestic violence) the league put it out to various reporters.

Did these reporters who have decades of being spot on under their belt all collude to get it wrong? It's not like they all used the same source. Moreover, Mort actually described the contents of the video in detail.

Then you have a source at the casino (or was it law enforcement) saying they handed the tape over to the league office.

On top of that, the league has combatted these accusations with confounding inconsistency. Oh we only use law enforcement. Except for that time we got a pissed off former coach to give us chickenscratch handwriting that somehow proved the New Orleans Saints were running a bounty system (pay to injure) No problems snatching the video right from a team employee in spygate

Then the league office specifically describes the duties of their security director to include getting video footages from CASINOS, restaurants, etc.

my fricking god, and idiots on here thing Goodell is the victim of a politically correct witch hunt. That would be true if he said, "yeah we saw it and like we told you, we fricked this up"

The reporters will continue to go after him each and every time he steps to the podium. There are no exit stages. He's toast.

They know he's lying, there is plenty of evidence out there that he is lying, and more will be discovered. Too many loose ends

I still find it funny that my first instinct after seeing the video for myself was that they would issue a press release and deny having seen it...they did that within the hour. Roger Goodell's first instinct in any compromising situation is to lie his arse off, just like he did in front of congress

Yeah, he's not worried about ESPN doing anything, because he's been outspoken before about their ridiculous policies and obsession with never wading into controversy.

To give him even more credit, Simmons was quite literally the only ESPN person to call Roger Goodell out a few years ago for his hypocritical BS about player safety and the 18 game schedule. Essentially, Goodell was denying a linkage between concussions and brain damage, aggressively promoting player safety, and lobbying for an 18 game regular season schedule, all the in the same breath.

that's why USA today did a story on how scathing Bill Simmons' remarks were, that's why 90% of talk radio is still talking about it. Google "NFL" and click the news tab and see how many stories are about actual football versus this whole fiasco...and of course, where is roger goodell? He's surfaced for one press conference and the press ate his arse alive. What do you think happens next time he turns up
