Help with cox contour box....

I'm at absolutes wits end with these folks over various things, the latest being the contour box I had installed last week isn't working.
When I turn the cable box on I get a message saying "check device's power, cable connection, and source selection". I've checked all of those, used a new hdmi cord, and have no idea where to go from here.
The bizarre thing is when I turn the box on "D2" flashes...
