Question about preordering iphone 6 and trading in old phone

If I order a 6 from an AT&T store and it doesn't come in until after 9/30 (when the trade-in promo ends), will I still be able to trade my phone in since I ordered prior to 9/30?

Apparently you can trade it in to AT&T for a credit in your bill. That way you get the full credit before your phone comes in.
