The media has been harping on Miles record when trailing going into the fourth quarter and how it is far better than anyone else. Sounds like a positive, but I firmly believe that it is a testament to the fact that when we play tough competition who stop our generic attack (which is good enough to beat many teams), we get desperate late in the game and start letting the talent do what they do best. I have watched us be absolutely manhandled by Alabama in the first half of our last two games at home when we tried to just come out and run on them, only to start playing aggressively in the second half due to desperation. If the game is close, i.e. at Alabama in 2011, aint going to change a thing. Had he put Harris in with more than 4 minutes to go, he might have pulled it off again.

That is literally the exact opposite of what happened last year???

And at what point were we "desperate" in 2012??

We dominated them for 58 minutes of that game.

Les Miles plays too conservative, when you play not to lose, you can and will lose. When you put your foot on the accelerator and play to win, you become dominant!

Did you see the stat. 15 of those wins were against top 15 opponents. Did you see the other team that has more wins tosu? They were 9-20 in those games.

It proves to me we've made second half adjustments and have beat good teams. While other teams seem yo just lose when they get behind. That shows his teams don't quit. That stat isn't good for the Les haters.

Missed that

Still, I don't feel like we did that in 2010 either, and clearly didn't in 2012.

Alabama is actually the team we do that the least against imo, excluding 1/9 of course.

We're always exceptionally well prepared and aaggressive against them actually

Of course our comebacks are against better teams.
Those are the teams that we can't bully on talent alone.

In 2010, we had like 70 yards in the first half and 360 in the second half. Started throwing the ball and came up with some really creative play calls. 2012 wasn't as bad - mostly because we were having some success with the run in the first half, but we were down 14-3 and we were more aggressive passing in the second half. Mett put on a show with his accuracy.

Does not equal this:

2010 was a very competitive game throughout. Our D was playing just as well as Bama's. We weren't "manhandled" and then throwing out of "desperation".

That game is probably considered one of Miles' biggest wins in his tenure, and probably the most surprising.

Using Alabama to make wwhatever point you're trying to make is dumb.

I'd say Miles teams usually play their best against Bama, outside of 1/9.

You obviously don't remember the game so this is pointless. We were absolutely dominated in the first half of the 2010 game trying to run at Alabama. Down 10 points at half we came out and opened things up. Dumb is trying to make an argument when you don't even know the facts.

you are right, OUR COACHES PLACE US IN THAT DESPERATION MODE ...which should not happen.

Well, kid btw, one of us certainly doesn't remember the game.

LSU was up 3-0 at the end of the 1st quarter, and down 7-3 at halftime (7 minus 3 is 4 btw, not 10).

At no point was LSU "dominated" in that game, and throwing "out of desperation".

Agreed!

That game remains one of the crown jewels of Miles' tenure, and anyone trying to use it to bash Miles' reputation is completely uninformed or just dishonestly trying to make it look like Miles can't hang with Saban head to head, when in fact Miles' teams usually play over their heads against Bama, excluding 1/9 obviously.

I partially agree with this, it depends who we're playing.

That I don't care for.

"It's only Clemson, it's only Ole Miss, it's only Arkansas who hasn't won an SEC game this season, it's only Miss St who we've beaten since 1992.... yadda yadda" so we play down to our opponent. I don't like that.

I'm not saying come out and run the score up into the 70's like Petrino or Meyer would do, but come out like we were playing Alabama, Auburn, Florida even.

I hate this "playing down to our opponents" thing. It's come back to bite us a few times.
