Just purchased an XBox1 what games should I be looking for in the future/obtain?

Just got an XBone, had a PS3 last generation
Games I like to play:
Sim games: dwarf fortress, SimCity etc
Loot and Shoots: I know I should get destiny but what else
Games that have couch co-op or local multiplayer
Turn-based RPGs
Sports games that aren't overly complicated
What games should I try to get?

I'm not saying these are the only games that I play, just the ones I would choose if I had a preference. Is Local multiplayer really that dead nowadays?

I think so. BF4 is probably a good value if you like FPS games. Not sure about CoD Ghosts. Madden for football and probably NBA 2K for basketball if you like hoops.
Too bad you didn't get a PS4 or you could get The Last of Us Remastered. Also, GTA 5 is going to come out for the One in November, I think.
There's always goofball games like Destiny and Titanfall. Good luck with that.

Destiny has been incredibly fun for me and my friends. Watch_Dogs is another good open world game and GTA V is coming out soon for the Xbox One. I'll see if I can find a list of upcoming games for you.

First off I would checkout EA Access. For $30 a year you can play Battlefield 4, Fifa 14, Madden 25, the last Need for Speed game, and Peggle 2 for free. You also get free early access to games (I'm currently playing FIFA 15 that comes out tomorrow) and a 5 or 10% discount on all EA titles.
Child of Light could fit your desire for a turn-based RPG
The lack of some good couch co-op games this generation on both consoles is maddening. I know FIFA still supports it. Since you missed out on the Halo games last generation I'd checkout the Master chief collection which comes out in November. Co-op Halo has always been a blast. Powerstar Golf is a fun arcade game that can be played locally.
A couple of games already out to take a look at:

Wolfenstein: Great game, but I'd suggest maybe renting it
NBA2K14: Uncomplicated sports game
Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag
