PFF Stats of Game #3

Take these with a grain of salt.
OFFENSE
-Unsurprisingly strong day for Brees.
-I really don't understand how Strief can be so underrated.
-Tim Lelito turned in a strong performance. We hired Goodwin as a stopgap...maybe it's time for Lelito to take the reigns.
-We never seem to have both guards playing well at the same time.
-I don't know why we thought Graham could pass block. That's a new one.
-Robinson's score isn't great, but it's hard to blame him. There was zero blocking.
-Cooks is gradually getting more looks, it seems.
-As I recall, last week we blocked for the run well and the pass poorly. This week, it's the opposite. I'm starting to see a pattern in this team of never striking a balance in multiple areas.
DEFENSE
-Good to see Vaccaro back in the green. Looks like we're using him properly again.
-Galette's pass rush score is really impressive.
-Lofton and Haralson are both good, but they turned in exceptional performances.
-Hicks...what is wrong with this guy? Walker has been head and shoulders above him all season.
-Also, Bush turns in an uncharacteristically low coverage score.
-Humber's score surprises me. I only listened to the game on the radio, but I didn't notice him screwing up much.
-Patrick Robinson... 1 overall snap. That says something.
-I mentioned earlier that I think our lack of pass rush comes from our DT's failing to be disruptive, which leaves blockers to focus on Jordan and Galette. The scores are backing me up. If our DT's don't step up (including Jenkins when he returns), we could be in trouble.

agreed all the way around

What's your favorite part?

Idk what's going on with Hicks. Disappointing so far. As for P-rob I don't think it's a coincidence that we improved once he sat out.

Jenkins, Robinson, and Vaccaro all had good first seasons.
Outside of Vaccaro, they've all regressed (and Vaccaro isn't exactly setting the world on fire right now).
Now, we hear about Jenkins covering very well on another team (and PFF agrees).
AND Byrd is probably playing his worst ball in years.
There's a pattern here, there's no denying it.

I'm convinced Jenkins will cost the Eagles a game or two at some point this season.

Hicks just continues to disappoint.

Add to that the departure of Dennis Allen in 2011. I definitely think that's in the mix here, as well. ESPECIALLY if you're, say, comparing what we all expected from a Byrd or Champ Bailey, compared to what we got from the likes of Darren Sharper or Greer before in that 2008-2011 era.

for me, the line about Lelito - if he can keep producing like he did this game, i am comfortable with the Center position, well moreso than i was in the offseason.

Galette and Jordan are #2 and #3 among 4-3 defensive ends...both very green in pass rush and run D...good stuff.
...also nice to see Lofton so green...he's playing much better this season than last

Hicks just continues to disappoint.

I was meaning continue to disappoint this season

Lofton had an incredible first half. He seemed to be in on every damn tackle.

I notice Lofton plays better without Thorn and the secondary plays better without Prob.
Will be a true test next week vs dallas. Mr Byrd will need to show up big.
Thanks for posting this Hoodoo

If someone would have told me before the season that he would play like this, I would have thought we'd be 3-0 with the #1D.
Far exceeding expectations. He's a leader too, I'm happy for him

Yes. Byrd has been a bigger disappointment to me than Hicks (who is still, son I am disappoint). I really thought this dude was some ballhawking super tackler. Not so much so far. Jury is still out though. Other areas are contributing to his playing factors.

weve had some pretty big changes on the backend. perhaps all that is needed is time playing together.
The front 7 is where the disappoint/concern is for me. The only change up there is Vilma, and they are noticeable worse. and with those guys you know its not about change and lack of time playing together.

I'm really disappointed in Hicks so far this season. I have a feeling Byrd will start to do a bit better really soon. Hope I'm right.

quote:Yeah he's been sub par but I think we should remember that it's been his first 3 games in a new/complicated system. He might just need time to gel like Lewis did last season (crosses fingers).
