Have you ever seen a 3 game stretch that turned into "fool's gold" like this one

LSU's first 3 games masked/totally hid some serious deficiencies in this team. MSU found every single deficiency and exploited the hell out of them.
What we learned last night that had been masked before:
1) The OL might just not be very good. I was giving benefit of the doubt before, but now I am not so sure.
2) Our outstanding secondary could only cover up for the porous front 7 for so long. The front 7 was totally outed last night. I know many suspected it, but the proof showed up last night. The secondary wasn't great last night, but they never really had a chance. A team that can pass it a little with an elusive QB = horrible formula for this defense.
3) The obvious...the offensive scheme looks ok when you can physically overwhelm ULM and SHSU. Not so much when you face a pretty good front 7 like MSU.
4) Our passing game badly needs some intermediate production. Passes that are 5 yards or less can be productive. Passes that are 40 yard or more are cool too. We suck at completing 10-20 yard passes.
Congrats to MSU. All streaks must come to an end. Of the schools in the land mass state, they are certainly the least offensive. This might be their year....senior laden team with lots of talent. Best of luck to them.

During the '90s, LSU would regularly go 3-0 before getting trounced by the middle and last half of their schedule.

Please expand...I don't remember the first few games of that year. I have tried to block most of it out...

Yeah 2008 started innocently enough then all hell broke loose.

1999 was the last time that it was like this. Or, 2008. But, really 1999.

Did we really think the defense would be good after 3 games?
