How does LSU not have at least 1 dominant DT?

Not just this season but we haven't had one since logan left.

There were too many tackles being made at the second level last night.

I know he's a LB but was Lamar Louis' name even called last night?

Freak and ego were solid but neither were really all SEC good.

We recruit ACC level Dline hoping that they will improve physically then pray we land the instate stud.

Our weak recruiting and not landing Willis is showing.

There has been a noticeable drought of quality DL talent in LA. Look at where most of our DTs are from. Even then though, we still should have done a better job recruiting in that position.

Ego and Freak were not great, but obviously better than what we have now. I guess we know why they played so many snaps last year which was contrary to Chief's usual heavy rotation. The 4 DTs in the 2013 class haven't done much and Thomas looked like he reinjured that bicep again.

Depending on scheme our DTS either needed to plug the middle or get penetration into the backfield. They did neither. The time allowed for the RB or DP to wait and pick holes was ridiculous. The DTs seemed unable to disengage from any blocks to at least slow the runner and the LBs were either slow to fill the gap or chose the wrong hole and took themselves out of the play. It didn't seem to matter whether it was Welter or Beckwith, but if our DTs are going to be that poor we are definitely better with the more physical Beckwith. This was like watching what Arkansas did to Texas Tech. Just sickening.
