How can someone call a car crash victim a "consumer"? (regarding health market)

How can somehow honestly consider a severely injured person a health consumer? When you are unconscious and on the verge of death, you don't have the ability to compare prices. Hospital costs are high because of this. It is impossible for there to be a market for hospital care (in trauma cases), for a prerequisite to a market is an educated consumer.

Insurance already has a way of handling emergency situations versus others. So not a big deal IMO.

If they are severely injured and are NOT a health consumer - they won't last long, will they?

That's why you buy insurance. The insurance company, in most cases, has negotiated those prices on your behalf BEFORE you even get hurt.

If markets only exist when all the players in it are fully informed then I would propose there aren't that many of them.
