Disregard for the Tigers this week

The tigers have done no less than the other top 7 teams have and won each game including beating a ranked opponent (Bama, FSU, Oklahoma, and Baylor have not, dominating teams on defense unranked (same as all others are doing). Yet the Tigers are a trendy pick to loose to an unranked team that they have basically beat the crap out of 10 of last 14 meetings who has proven nothing on the field against under matched opponents! Why are we the trendy pick for an unranked upset at home where nearly everyone agrees is the most difficult place to play and has been for quite some time and the record speaks for it? Every team is young and putting new pieces in place and schemes. Apples to Apples we are as good or better than any team ranked ahead of us this week and have proven that in the same method the other ranked teams ahead of us have and have been just as impressive against inferior competition, but an unranked team is the most trendy pick to beat LSU at home and the reason is just flat out insulting and ridiculous. What the hell is going on out there and I am not talking conspiracy? Something is way out of place here.

Stop watching ESPN. They do it for ratings.

Beating State 6 years ago has nothing to do with winning today.

Disregard LSU, acquire ratings

Lose/loose. Fricking typo or auto-correct or whatever! My point is that its not just ESPN with this prediction. Its everywhere! Radio, CBS, magazines. You are correct in that the past doesn't matter, however this season, I don't get why LSU is expected by so many to LOSE the game today to an unranked team at home.

I wouldn't say LSU is expected to lose. People make these upset picks so they can look like geniuses if they get it right. If they get it wrong, though, no one notices because LSU will have won like we're expected to. It's all about drawing attention.

My favorite part of this is when LSU whips that arse, all next week it will be how bad Mississippi State is....

I hear you, man, and I'm a little aggravated by it too. But the media both loves and hates us because it gets them ratings. They know people like us actually care, even if only on Saturdays, about whether our alma mater or our state university (for LSU non-graduates) win a football game.
We are in the top 10-15 of college football programs all-time and even higher recently and the media knows it.
You won't hear much about UConn, Kentucky, or Indiana today one way or the other. But in two weeks they will be starting basketball. Then the media will care about them because they know their fans will care.
Be glad for publicity - good or bad. It means we still care.

There is a lot of truth/fact there, NEZ. I guess its a bit frustrating at times when it comes to the somewhat polarizing status that we seem to have with the sports media. If Mississippi State was a ranked team then this would be much more understanding. But at Tiger stadium to not only say its a possibility that they could win, media types have spent hours making a case for this as a reality. I guess we should enjoy the attention however it comes, but damn!!!

I'm getting tired of hearing this...they do not treat other top teams with the same disrespect. There is definitely an inordinate amount of hate for LSU.
