Wife is due for an upgrade, I'm canceling my personal line because I have a work phone.

I'm looking for a plan with decent data and texting for a reasonable price. Also looking for a new iphone (not necessarily a 6, just a new one). Would like to pay ~$65/month for the plan (which I think is reasonable from reviewing other carriers websites).

We're with AT&T now and I logged on and didn't see an option to buy the phone outright. All are available for purchase through this plan where you pay $25+- per month for 2 years. That looks great to people who can't math but f paying $600 for a phone unless my bill drops that amount.

I'm not against switching to Verizon or another carrier.

Any advice?

The att next plans are just 0% financing of the retail price of the phone. Not sure why they aren't giving you the option of paying for the phone up front.

I know in the AT&T store they have the full retail price listed. If you buy it up front from them or from anywhere else and "bring your own device", then you just have to pay for the service.

Doing the next 12 or Next 18 got the LG G3, the total of all the kids they payments equaled $580. Plus you have to pay the taxes (about $55) up front. I ordered mine off Amazon for $530, no tax, free shipping. Saving over $100 this way.

Take a look at your usage: minutes of talk, number of messages, and megabytes of data. I'm a light user of all three and found a pay-as-you-go plan with PTel that saves me a lot of money every month. Many people would be surprised at how little data they use because they're almost always connected to wi-fi. My last month's bill was $12. And you're always better off buying your own unlocked phone than rolling it into your plan. E-Bay is a good starting point to shop.
