Aren't they in Asia? We know Israel has been blackballed out of Asia so they can lose in Europe.

Where the Azeris given a choice after the USSR split?

The rest of the Russian republics qualify through Europe.

And I believe the reason Israel qualifies through Europe is that none of the Middle Eastern countries will allow the Israeli team to play in thier countries. That's not quite the same as blackballing.

I think it's more that the Israeli team's safety cannot be guaranteed - or anything close to it - if they were to play in many of those countries.

How ironic considering they won't host a game these qualifiers cause it's too dangerous there

The Israel and Belgium game was postponed due to the dangerous situation there. I figure for the make up game they will likely have to play in a neutral site.

Kazakhs are part of UEFA.

ETA: I wonder if FIFA will push for Team GB now that the referendum failed...

The home nations have had their own national teams forever now. I see nothing changing anytime soon.

I hate that for Israel. They are as good or better than some of the garbage teams that qualify out of Asia. If they make North and South Korea work they can fix this.

Israel could be placed in a special pool to avoid other middle eastern teams for as long as possible. They wouldn't have to play against one til the last round or in a battle for a wildcard. Those games could be designated for a neutral site.

Israel probally would just say frick it and play in Europe.

Adding Bale and Ramsey to this current England team would instantly make them one of the 4 or 5 favorites to win the Euros. England has a ton of young talent that has kind of gone under the radar. They are going to be really fun to watch these next couple of big tournaments.
