IOS8, should it really just be 7.1?

The new update is basically a few tweaks. Looks the same as 7. Should it really be a whole version number higher? If MS did this, we would be on Windows 145.

MS adds dozens and dozens of new features in its regular OS updates?

I thought it was just bug fixes and under the hood stuff.

Not every iOS update is a graphical update like last year. There are a bunch of new things to it that are nice.

I've been using iOS since the 3GS and I can say that iOS 8 is the best non-redesign update since I've been using it. Major redesigns like iOS 7 are not a yearly thing. The new features that streamline frequent activities are fantastic such as the additions to iMessage, for instance. IOS 8 is great.

Yep, all the time. They call the feature releases. 8.1 was a feature release.
