Just finished watching it. Great French film and an interesting take on nihilism and love

Now you are talking. I'm a big fan of French Film. Jean-Luc Godard wrote & directed that. Check out some of his other work.

I've tried starting ongoing French and Italian Cinema Film thread but both threads die out quickly. Aside from a few posters, this board consists of people who thing Twilight and Drive are classics.

I just watched this movie Breathless, and when the main character went like this [rubs thumb across mouth], he got all the pussy!"

There was quote from, I believe it was, Francois Truffaut who said, "There was cinema before Breathless and then there is cinema after Breathless."
I agree. Breathless carpet bombed the language of cinema and I consider it to be the first "modern film." I absolutely love the jazzy score and I love the nihilism of Belmundo's character.
By the way, if you like Breathless, I would recommend Seijin Suzuki's film Branded to Kill. It's got the same kind of jazzy score and chaotic storytelling. Plus, it deals with the yakuza which is always cool.

Not in the original's league, but still enjoyed the American remake with Gere(and Kaprinsky's body)too.

I like the remake better.
