I was just reading up on this flick. It looks really good.

quote:

Movie Info THE DROP is a new crime drama from Michaël R. Roskam, the Academy Award nominated director of Bullhead. Based on a screenplay from Dennis Lehane (Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone), THE DROP follows lonely bartender Bob Saginowski (Tom Hardy) through a covert scheme of funneling cash to local gangsters - "money drops" in the underworld of Brooklyn bars. Under the heavy hand of his employer and cousin Marv (James Gandolfini), Bob finds himself at the center of a robbery gone awry and entwined in an investigation that digs deep into the neighborhood's past. Also featuring Noomi Rapace, Matthias Schoenaerts, Ann Dowd and John Ortiz. (C) Fox Searchlight

How does it compare to "The Town?"

It has 3 of these of varying ages due to time to shoot the film. That, and a different plot with no Ben Affleck makes the Drop better to me.

I'd say less action than the town, just as much if not more drama and tension, the acting I thought was great in both films. The pup gives the drop a few extra points lol. I really enjoyed both, wouldn't pick one over the other

I just knew Bob was a badass

Was the ending a tribute to JG/Sopranos?

Went and saw this yesterday. I enjoyed it, not the fastest paced movie, but its only 1 hr 45 min. Kept the suspense up though. Tom Hardy did a great job as did Gandolfini.

I wouldn't ever want it, but based on his performance/accent...if they ever re-made Rocky Tom Hardy would be a good pick.

I got that vibe as well. Except Stallone was as likable.

He was in Warrior, but played an antagonist. I thought Warrior approached the soul of what Rocky was about.
