Anyone know the actual details on this and not just speculation? With the vote soon coming and living in the St. George proposed area, I still am not sure if this gets approved, how it will affect me. Are there any sites that explain in detail how this will affect the residents?

From what I have heard sales taxes and property taxes would stay as is at least for now.

But if the SG group gets the item on the ballot, I suspect this is going to be a hot button item, what will the direct impact be on a SG taxpayer.

First now and second on down the road.

The organizers don't even know, so your guess is just as good.

LSURussian will be along soon to tell you how the SG organizers are evil and liars and how your taxes are going to go up $1,200,000 a year.

Lsu81, literally laughed out loud. That meme is the right combo of funny and terrifying!

OP: There has been extensive speculation on this board about the effect of St. George being created. In short it will either create paradise on earth or will bring about the zombie apocalypse. In short, politics as usual.

It's hard to reconcile how SG leaving is going to cause the City of BR and EBR schools hardship due to a lack of funds, and that if SG incorporates they are going to need to raise taxes because they too won't have enough funds.

Agree. Pre-annexations, I think it was more likely to harm the City. Post-annexations, I think things lean toward costing St. George more in taxes; but I really don't know.

Given that it is less likely to harm the city; while I still think it is a bad idea, I care less if it happens. Of course one or two more annexations could help "ease my mind" even more!
