Urban Outfitters is under fire for selling a "blood-stained" Kent State sweatshirt in an apparent homage to the 1970 shooting there that left four people dead. Described as "vintage" on the clothing retailer's website, the shirt was spattered with dark red blotches and had several small holes. It was retailing for $130.

quote:

The description read: "Washed soft and perfectly broken in, this vintage Kent State sweatshirt is cut in a loose, slouchy fit. Excellent vintage condition. We only have one, so get it or regret it!" As of early Monday, the shirt was listed as "sold out" on the company's website, according to Buzzfeed. Urban Outfitters later apologized for "any offense" the sweatshirt caused. The company said it had not been "altered in any way." The stains, according to company officials, were due to "discoloration" and the holes were "natural wear and fray." Four Kent State students were killed and nine others wounded after Army National Guard troops fired on Vietnam War protesters on May 4, 1970.

Very poor decision IMO.

Looks to me like what exactly happened ...i.e. Ohio State got ahold of them and took out some frustration.

What the hell are those people thinking? I was helping my folks clear out their storage unit last weekend and a few years ago my dad decided to be charitable and buy up most of these people's crap who had fallen on hard times and there was this wooden watermelon with a little black girl with pigtails eating it. It was probably from the 50's more than likely.

Probably earlier than that - however, it was a big thing in the first half of the 20th Century - one of the last things to go were Lawn Jockeys.

However, some of it did persist into the 50s, but it was at a much lower volume. But, we made $hit really well back then and most of it lasted.

It was quality stuff I agree - would last forever.
