If these two games happened in the middle of the season

Would everybody be freaking out as much as they are now? Say we started the season 5-2 and then these two games occurred, would we be firing Sean Payton because "he's always been a terrible play caller," "he calls passes instead of runs that would insure victory to show us he's a genius?" Would we be cutting Drew Brees because he "can't throw the ball 20 yards down field" "makes terrible decisions time and time again?"

Or is just a product of the fact that the same people who are about to jump of a bridge were the ones in preseason claiming this is surely a superbowl team and are now confused by what they see?

Look the 1st two games have not been good, on the other hand we are a couple of plays away from being 2-0. We've dug ourselves a hole but I'd rather be playing like this now and not in November.

If you haven't noticed, the Saints struggle on the road. Therefore to have realistic hopes of going deep into the playoffs they will need homefield advantage. That means every game is important, especially games on the road when you're up in the fourth quarter!

Just getting into the playoffs doesn't mean as much once you've won it all.

which should make an 0-2 start on the road even less surprising

If these two games happened after we were 14-0 would everyone be this upset?

Dipshit thread is shite

I haven't seen anyone say fire Payton. It's reasonable for people to be upset at his play calling and refusal to feed Ingram. Even if he coached us to a Super Bowl he's not free from criticism

Why is it shite? Because it doesn't fit the "season is over" narrative?

All the "freaking out....fire Payton" folks usually come from game day TD posters and Monday trolls.

Most of the regulars around here don't fit those two .

teams that start 0-2 usually suck

payton still wont commit to the run

our 4 minute offense is atrocious

our defense cant seem to stop anyone on the last drive

No, the super bowl win is a distant memory at this point 2009. How many playoff games have the Saints won since the super bowl year, not many. I think it's time for Benson and the power that be to start a look for a new coach. SP had a good run here, but it's time to move toward the future and SP and Drew in company are on a downward spiral.

I'm not pissed about the general season outlook yet. These were two road games that we generally tend to lose.
I'm just pissed we let two games get away that we should have easily won. Every single game counts and could potentially hurt our seeding.

On the bright side Seahawks and 9ers both lost

Which is exactly why I think any "season is lost" or "12% chance to make playoffs" is unnecessary. Plenty of time.

As usual, the biggest problem isn't the offense. Frankly we've run the ball more than I thought we would.

It's the defensive problems that have once again reared their ugly heads. What scares me the most is our inability to stop any running game at this point. If we can't do that, you give people like Bryan Hoyer a win.

I agree it's just so damn frustrating seeing this team underperform. We're going to destroy the Vikings, I'm just ready to see what we do when we go into Jerry's World, we need a road win

When your team gives up 19 points defensively, no matter how bad it looked, this offense should easily out score that.

Because we didn't start 5-0. We started 0-2.
