What is there stake in it? I want to say around 30%, while it is a lick I dont think this is all bc of that. If its a complete bust, which it most likely is, they are only writing off 300M or so.

Just did a little digging, from the looks of it they have been doing pretty well as far as new drills. Only 10 dry holes out of 60 wells in the last 3 years. However it doesn't say commercial or what qualifies as a productive well so they could have a couple days pop guns mixed in there that they are calling productive.

Another energy stock to keep an eye on is Stone Energy out of lafayette. They were on pace to hit to $50 mark this summer but have lost about 50% of their market value in the last 3 months bc of the slide in prices. Currently trading at $22.70. They have tremendous upside with tons of acreage in the Marcellus and significant drilling coming online soon in deep water GoM.

Sub-$7 so far with oil down again today. There are a number of value buys out there better than EXXI.

Yeah, if you believe oil will settle back in the upper 80s to 90 in the next few months there are some permian focused companies that are getting hammered that are are great buys right now.
