Does Strong have a short leash or is he there for the long haul?

I think the UT program was in much worse shape than originally thought, which Mack Brown deserves the blame.

How long does Strong have to turn things around or does he have to many internal issues blocking him?

i think them getting smoked by BYU is funny, but its Strong's second game with a raw 19 yo taking snaps...he doesnt have much to work with at the moment

I think the players down there needed a swift kick in the arse and that's what Strong has done.

A drastic change like Strong is implementing is not something that happens overnight.

A lot are not happy

The ones that are remaining optimistic about the near future reference Saban's 1st year at Alabama

I don't disagree........I think the strategy Strong is using will make them worse in the short term, but much much better in the long term.

Will those "boosters" who were not happy with his selection be the first ones to raise hell when it appears the program is not moving forward?

A lot of times great programs go into the tank simply because of a bad stretch of quarterbacks and can bounce back pretty quickly. Texas has serious structural and cultural problems. That's going to take a few recruiting cycles to fix.

Yeah, there is no quick fix for this program.

Strong has some serious work to do because this program has rotted over the last few years.

The depth chart has some serious holes...need to look JUCO big time.

In all seriousness my rational Texas friends understand what Strong is doing will take time but aren't completely confident he will get the time he needs to see it through

I could see him being a transition type coach where he gets axed after year three but has laid the groundwork for someone to come in and succeed right away after doing all the heavy lifting

That'd be a mistake in my opinion.

Probably not as bad as tOSU's fanbase.

4 new OL, a new RB, a new QB, a new #1 WR, new DC. PLAYOFF OR BUST

I was on that wagon as well, but was hopeful, not expectant. If you read the melt that is going on now, you would actually think OSU is going to go 1-11

That all makes sense.

Don't disagree, but that's just my non expert opinion based on the work he has to do vs the expectations of the fanbase

The last few years were filled with bad decisions in both recruiting and coaching hires. He was a coach who put the program on cruise control and somehow convinced himself that everything would be fine.

A total lack of accountability both on and off the field...if this program had a truly honest self-evaluation after 2010, we probably don't fall so far down.

It sucks, but I'm confident Strong is currently doing things necessary to get things back on track.
