Shooting guns providing a release? Whoda thunk it? Just because it's cool doesn't mean it should be legal. Some would say the same about marijuana.......

We had a big dove hunt opening day, and my sister and her friend brought some friends from college...2 of them were real beta hipster liberal guys who had never shot a gun.
We started skeet shooting and I showed them how...they loved it. They were then amazed at how my sister and her friend never missed, and how this one guy i know who does skeet competitions was hitting double targets shooting from the hip with a 12,000 dollar gun
One of them commented "Ok, when ISIS invades the US these are the people we need to hang around"

I've found a lot of anti gun people are only for gun control because they've never handled a gun and they are 1. Scared of it because they are unfamiliar with it and 2. Assume all other citizens that don't have police/military training can't properly handle one either
If you take them out shooting and show them how, they'll usually enjoy it. The guys from our dove hunt completely changed perspective once they tried it and witnessed how well us private citizens could handle a gun.

I'm liberal-leaning and the only reason I don't own/shoot a gun is because I can't afford one. The times I did shoot one I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will go on record and say that liberals who don't support the 2nd Amendment are just as idiotic as conservatives who don't support gay marriage and/or marijuana legalization.

Similar qualifications are had by most libertarian candidates for public office - pretty much the party platform, nowadays.

It is not prohibitively expensive, by any means. A quality .22lr (e.g. Ruger 10/22) can be had for under $300 and ammo (when you can find it lately) is 5 to 6 cents each (used to be cheaper just a couple of years ago). Spread out over 2 years, and you could buy the rifle and shoot 200 rounds per month for about $12 per month, plus range fees - then, you could shoot about 600 rounds per month (rifle would be paid for at that point) for the same $12 per month, plus range fees.
Just sayin'.
