I do my dead lifts at the squat rack. Is this frowned upon? If so, where am I supposed to do them? My gym doesnt have a big open area with mats specifically for dead lifts and hand cleans. My only other option would be to take a bar from one of the benches and do them in front of the mirror by the dumbbell racks.

Nothing wrong with doing that as long as you don't hold the rack for a unreasonable amount of time.

I mean, as long as you aren't there for a ridiculous amount of time, it should be fine. Especially if there's nowhere else.

You mean you do rack pulls? Or partial deads with chains or bands?

Nevermind I see what you mean now. On other words you take the barbell from the rack and pulll from the bar. I don't think that's frowned upon. It isn't like you are doing barbell curls

You can take the crash bars off temporarily.

And I do this, there's no where else to do it at my place either.
