The officiating crew for tonight's game called the most PI and Defensive Holding penalties in the preseason, and was tied for most in the league last year.

Seeing how the Seahawks adapt to this while facing an extremely talented Offense could set the tone for how things are called this season. The rules emphasis this year is basically a direct reaction to what Seattle did last year. Ironically, even with a RECORD number of PI and Holding calls across the league this preseason, Seattle was called for 0.

I just looked this up. Seattle led the league in pass interference calls with 15.

Yeah I found it to be very interesting. There was like quadruple the amount of calls THIS preseason, as opposed to last preseason, but the team the rule emphasis was created for was flagged for none.

Either they are laying off for the preseason, or they still just aren't getting called for it.

But I am very interested to see how the refs call it tonight.

Is it Walt Coleman? Of they didn't get flagged during the preseason it's only bc they didn't have Walt Coleman ref a game. He'll still balance it out with holding calls though.

tonight’s referee is John Parry. That’s significant because Parry’s crew called the most defensive holding and pass interference penalties of any officiating crew during the preseason. Parry’s crew also tied for the most defensive holding and pass interference calls of any officiating crew during the 2013 regular season.

so the league wanted to make a point, but do they call it against the seahawks when they do it?

Do they disparately enforce the rules? GB gets the ticky tack shite, seahawks get to mug motherfrickers

Do they just pump the brakes and start on Sunday?

Does Seattle actually tone it down to avoid penalties or do their "do it until it is called" strategy?

I can't wait, but I hope the refs don't steal the show.

look I'm not a bitter fan. The seahawks kicked the shite out of the saints. I can't be bitter about that.

but

it was atrocious, but hey, their opponents should've done it too until it was called

Nah. They were masters of it. I don't blame them, it was good strategy.

There's a bunch more that for some reason I can't link.

Like I said, it was smart, and they kicked the Saints arse and deserved to be SB champs regardless, but they certainly did base a lot of their defensive strategy on it.
