Miles said his staff was "thrilled" with the play of Fournette, Harris et al.

I tend to agreed with Miles assessment of allowing the freshmen to develop and not being surprised that there's obviously lots of room for improvement.

Thoughts from the rant? Do you share Les' sentiments? Were the recruits over-hyped or will some of them wow us by the time November rolls around?

What else would he say... I mean really. If the #1 recruit had gone out and had a terrible game i wouldn't expect Miles to say.. "well he really sucks" lol

Stop blowing smoke up his arse and let him blossom whenever it happens. Nobody is worried that fournette will not be the best back to come through LSU

It was game 1. Against a top 15 opponent. None of the true freshmen were expected to come in and begin national award campaigns. Fournette did great at returning kicks, and did the things he was supposed to do. He just needs to wear gloves for the next game.

Gamble impressed everyone with his kickoffs, only having one miscue.

Harris had one drive in which he wasn't allowed to throw. Enough said.

Godchaux played his arse off on the d-line. Enough said.

No one should be bashing anyone or questioning their abilities. /end discussion

ETA: Jamal Adams and a few others were on special teams and Adams came in for the nickel and mustang packages a few times. He played great.

My point to you is that as long as these guys aren't losing the game single-handedly, they're doing things right, and that's all that matters.

If the two screen passes to LF would have been on target it very possibly would be a much different discussion. His stats would have been drastically improved and the rant would be calling him Jim Brown JR...

I'm pleased with the freshman. LF7 is big, strong, and fast - although he didn't have any long runs, you can see this guy is going to be the real deal. Quinn is going to be extremely good, and Goudeaux was very impressive, as well - he is big and fires off the line of scrimmage! Consider this: Bain and Herron were higher rated recruits the year before last, yet they didn't play at all. Also, Adams looked good too! I believe this class is going to pay huge dividends eventually.

The mans words are never to be taken literally. He's been here 10 years. They made it to the game and contributed. He should be thrilled.

We changed our blocking scheme late in the second half which led, in part, to the big runs by Hilliard. Had LF7 been running the ball on those plays, he would have performed just as well. LF7 quite literally had people on him as soon as he received the ball on offense.

Absolutely. If you watch the game, you can see Fournette played pretty well.

Why? The screen passes were ugly throws, and the toss wasn't pretty either (he should have had it)

Only mentally challenged folk expected Fournette and the freshman to blast everyone away. And there's nothing wrong with their performance, especially Fournette. It was his first game and while they did try to get him the ball, it's not like they have the guy 25 carries, he got 8. And he even nearly busted a KO return for a TD.

Yeah, he had two returns for over 20 yards and a 33 yarder. Not bad. I'll take those. And the blocking on some of those returns didn't seem to be that great (I could be wrong, though).
