Too many tiers?

And I dont know how you dont have TOOL in tier 1 if you gonna call them Nu-metal.

And then have APC way down... I loved Incubus growing up.... not Nu metal IMO

i'm not exactly sure what defines Nu Metal, but I'll rearrange these for my own tiers:

Tier 1
Tool
Rage Against the Machine
Rob Zombie
A Perfect Circle
Avenged Sevenfold

Tier 2
Linkin Park
Mudvayne
Slipknot
Disturbed
Korn
The Offspring
Audioslave

Tier 3
Limp Bizkit
Godsmack
Marilyn Manson
Papa Roach
Incubus
Sevendust
Staind

The rest can go to hell i guess. I don't feel like doing this anymore

none of these are "nu metal"

tool is band that would be labeled under the "prog rock/alt-metal" umbrella

I'm considering putting tool in tier 1.

what albums or songs really even merit them tier 1 status? They don't seem very talented

according to the wikipedia definition, these are all nu metal. i could see audioslave or marilyn manson

but rob zombie and rage are most certainly nu metal

Does Alien Ant Farm count? They were better than Incubus and Tool

A lot of those I wouldn't classify as nu metal, especially SOAD, Disturbed, and Avenged Sevenfold. Obviously my definition is probably different than what you are using.

Korn being Tier 2 is a motherfricking travesty

This is the issue I think. The definition of "nu metal" has somehow become extremely broad, and basically encompasses every metal band that came out during that time period that wasn't death metal

Linkin Park and SOAD are not in the same genre of metal, not no way, now no how.

ok give me a second and i'll change that

but seriously, none of those bands embody what nu metal was.

offspring was punk rock. APC was melodic rock. tool prog rock. audioslave, rock. MM was very similar to NIN and no one would call NIN nu metal.

right, and that is extremely inaccurate. especially for those of us who lived through that period of cock rock nonsense.

Agreed.

When I think of nu metal, what comes to mind is POD, Linkin park, Limp Bizkit.

Limp Bizkit rulez. I drank a fifth of everclear during their Woodstock 1999 show and lit a porty potty on fire.

what should be tier2?

I added breaking benjamin to tier2. korn is extremely talented fwiw. they shouldn't be any lower than tier 3 Breaking Benjamin - The Diary of Jane

How are they nu metal? They are post-grunge/alt rock. I'm so confused. There doesn't seem to be a consistent theme of what nu metal is.
