Saturday night was the first time in a couple of years i recall LSU try to run the screen with LF7 in at RB. I assume this is tough play to run because it can be easily intercepted and returned for a pick 6.

This is his first year playing for LSU. But they have used the screen to the RB multiple times before.

We used to run screens all the time before 2008.

Just needs to work on execution. The play can go to distance. It will work great on teams that like to run any kind of blitz... Which I foresee most teams doing because we are run first team

It's definitely something they added in the fall to get Fournette out into open space. I think if the QBs get more practice running it and with different backs, it will be a big hit.

I was very surprised that they had the confidence to let Jennings run that. It's very hard to try to lob a pass over defenders when they're running at you full speed.

I remember we ran WR screens once per 5 downs around 2007-2009. Ran screens with Ware but he was pretty much the only we ran it with.

I could have sworn LSU ran that middle RB screen multiple times the last few years, maybe I'm mistaken.

no...it is generally though of as a safe play to run. LSU just needs to work on executing the play.

The saints are a great screen team...Bama also. I am not sure what seperates some teams form others in executing the screen though.

Middle screen from a spread formation....greatest play in the world. (Former OT here)

The play was there for the taking on the one with LF. The blocking was one on one and with his ability he could have scored there. The incomplete to Magee was not so well-blocked and likely would have been a minimal gain. They should study the way the Saints run their screens. Nobody does it better.

LSU would run straight screen very very infrequently with Hill the last couple of years. LSU liked running the peekaboo screen with Ware once in a while as well.

But screen calls under Les are very rare the last few seasons.

It was good to see the play finally back in the playbook. Unfortunately they were terribly out of synch.

I absolutely love the idea, we just couldn't execute. I think a lot of that had to do with first game jitters.

The plays were there. We just couldn't get it done. They could have been huge gains.

visions of Lee looking right at the Auburn DE right there between him and whoever the RB was on the play, and shaking my head in disbelief since he threw it anyways. Housed the other way.

hill was good in the screen game when we went there.

LF could've had a big gain in the 1st quarter but the pass from jennings was pretty bad.

they need to watch the Saints and how they execute the screen game with pierre thomas and their o-line.

hence why AJ drilled a ball at LF and it didn't work.

I agree, though, that they need to figure it out. Cam has wanted to get the screen play working since he got here. Frankly the team has yet to execute it well...not just this year, but even with Mett at QB

The middle screen is a play of quality design that when executed at a certain level of precision can be most advantageous to a team to at a time deter the blitz of an opposition.

Yea we done it before
