For those who want to get the TE more involved in the passing game, Cameron sure delivered: Dickson got 2 targets, and Smith got 1 target. That accounts for about 15% of the pass attempts. Unfortunately, there was only one completion, and it resulted in a fumble.

The RBs got a lot of targets too: Hilliard got 2, Fournette got 2, and Magee got 1. That's a total of 5 or almost 25% of the attempts. The only completions were to Hilliard who caught both of his passes for 10 and 12 yards.

Combined, the TEs and RBs were targeted about 40% of the time.

To maintain a vertical attack, all of the WR targets were intermediate or deep pass attempts. The WRs YPA was 15.2 with all of the completions at least 11 yards. Of 13 targets, Dural got 6 (3 completions), Quinn got 5 (1 completion), and Diarse got 2 (2 completions).

Smith dropped a wide open, drive killing 15 yard pass that might have resulted in a TD. I think if he makes that play he get a couple more catches, who knows. Looked like all the yougsters were pressing and it showed but they'll start clicking as the season progresses

So did Jennings, who looks light years better than JJ.

Yeah, I loved the play calls for the TE's. Just gotta catch those balls and hold on to them.

Which makes Jennings even further ahead of Lee.

Jennings > Jefferson > Lee

I hope it doesn't go the other way though and now he gets almost no targets. I do think that if he caught that, more would have gone his way.

Word is the coaches love Smith's ability so he'll likely get a chance at redemption soon enough. I think it's a pretty good ratio for the first game. The Tigers have as good a young bunch of wide receivers as I've seen in years. Reminds a bit of the bunch that came aboard in '03.

That's really nice balance. It gives DCs a lot more to have to think about. We have backs who can be deadly in the open field. If the TEs come around and Jennings can improve throwing the screens, the passing game shouldn't miss a beat from last year.

I would personally love to see the WR screen rolled out during the next two games to go with all this. Dural, Quinn, or Chi with blockers paving the way? Forget about it.
