How to make a GIF

I want to post a short clip of the LSU Wisky game at the point of the fake punt in the 3rd quarter.
I have the link location from youtube but do not know how to setup the clip to stop after the fake punt is successful?
I see clips setup with the video in the message box vs. just the link, how is that done, using the IMG box instead of the LINK box??
