I feel like Cassidy is generally a liberal with an R next to his name.

Maness seems like a true conservative but does he have the ability to really win out? Or trigger a runoff?

I guess if I had my choice of voting for Maness and possibly granting Landrieu another term I would vote for Cassidy.

Why do people keep saying this? He's wayyyyyy more conservative than a blue dog democrat and more conservative than Mary.

Maness is a Landreiu plant intended to siphon votes away from Cassidy and is allegedly isn't even running his campaign in Louisiana. He also has donated to democrats before iirc.

Isn't Maness more libertarian? If so, he gets my vote. I'm sure pundits will tell me that I'm wasting my vote if I vote for the best candidate.

I am saying it because of his support for Obamacare (his version of it), record of voting for higher taxes, etc.

I hadn't heard that before. I wonder if they have fooled the Senate Conservatives Fund who have backed him for quite a while.

Ultimately, unless something changes radically in the polls (Maness is barely double digits). I'll vote against Landrieu via Cassidy.

He probably is, but this is such a crucial election cycle. Cassidy is the guy that can send Mary packing. Even if you feel he may be a RINO, he will be infinitely more conservative than Landrieu could every "portray" herself to be.

Wouldn't Maness do the same if he won?

The first election is a primary. As long as no single candidate gets over 50% there will be a runoff. Vote for anyone you want in the primary and then vote against Mary in the runoff.

Cassidy.

You realize the commercials against him are nearly straight up lies, right?

Can you please point to me where Cassidy voted for higher taxes? Thanks.

What has he ever DONE (not just said in a speech) that would make you think that?

Do you really want to elect a US Senator with no track record and just hope he is what he says he is???? Really????

What does this mean? If you kiss arse to the mouth breathers and nimrods in the republican party, I guess you may be right he is the "true" conservative.

Cassidy is a good guy and by far the only person with a chance to beat ML. This election is far to important for be playing the stupid arse "he isn't conservative enough" game.

I've spoken to Cassidy in person. He's not a liberal. People saying that are FOS.

He's got a voting record, look it up.
