Austin does have enough hipsters to support the MLS.

San Antonio, Sacramento, and Ottawa are really demanding MLS to take notice. I know the league wants big markets and its all about expanding the footprint to a large audience but I really like some of these smaller markets. The league would not be as good without Portland.

They will still be CUSA next year. Still looking for an owner. According to some reports I saw. MLS is refusing that they leave LA

ETA: and as soon as I say that I see this on twitter
quote:

Garber tells me the discussions to sell "the second team in LA" are moving along and he expects the sale to complete by the end of the year.

Having a two teams in big markets makes sense theoretically, but rarely is successful.

Chicago: Both baseball teams typically suck, but the Cubs' popularity is infinitely bigger than the White Sox.

New York: Yankees and Giants are model franchises, Mets and Jets are at best forgettable in a good year.

LA: Making the second round of the playoffs is the best thing in Clippers history.

Right now: The Galaxy is a well supported team in a market, that traditionally is incredibly apathetic to anything besides the Lakers. Chivas USA is a complete failure.
