Why should anyone be okay with being falsely accused and arrested?

It seems like the prevailing attitude around here is that if you haven't done anything wrong, then you shouldn't be worried about being embarrased, inconvenienced, and arrested for things you have not done.

Why is it we act like everyone should be a good saint and should peacefully and happily oblige to horrible and unlawful treat by police officers?

I'm just curious

To be fair, I think the people who really think this are a VERY small minority on this board.

no, the prevailing attitude is really the other way.

There are some law & order types who think it's all for the best tho.

So you don't get tazed or commit a crime in the process of being detained for a crime you didn't commit.

So act a fool allowing them to stack charges, have the bogus ones dropped but the others stick?

I think people are just saying it's best to react with maturity and a level-head, even if the cop is out of line or being a jerk or harassing you. I have done it.

Blatantly criminal and physically abusive treatment is a different matter.

Sounds exactly like what a criminal would say.

Sen. McCarthy would like to have a word with you...

Also, I don't care if you're innocent, don't argue with cops or resist them if they are arresting you.

Handle it later, not in the moment.

I try to use common sense when dealing with an a-hole that can make me have a bad day....you can be a dick and question his tactics if you think being tough is the way to go. But don't bitch about it when it goes bad.

A buddy of mine went to work for a DA. On his first day, he questioned whether the police search in a drug case had violated the constitutional rights of the accused. The prosecutor's response: "If he hadn't been doing them drugs, he wouldn't need them rights."

because dealing with a lawyer afterwards is better than having a gun drawn on you, legally or not.

arguing with a cop will get you nowhere.

I mean, I think you're a dumbass if you start arguing with an officer or resisting arrest. Shouldn't be surprised if you get your arse beat or get tased.

Not that it's right. But it doesn't take much sense to see it coming.

I don't feel sorry for dumbasses either.

I think the OP may be confusing being DETAINED and being ARRESTED.

I have seen some people wisely advise to keep your head about you when being detained and questioned. That makes sense but is a whole different ball game than being ARRESTED and booked into jail.

Detain me, reasonable or not, and I will calmly discuss the matter with the intent of addressing it later with his Supervisor. Put me in cuffs and take me to jail, entirely different situation.
