Our defensive line play was not and is not as bad as some people like to make it sound on here but it sure is not comparable to some of the other recent ones we have had. Have we gotten a little spoiled? we do have some nice young players but i dont feel Deondre Clark and valentine are enough. Sione has some really nice upside potential. Thoughts and opinions?

Comparing the two teams playing in the game...

I'm glad our D-line made adjustments and got better in the 2nd half, as opposed to get beat-down and tired like Wisconsin.

agree!!!through out the season our secondary can actually better or DL but if Hunter Leaves we are left with some depth issues

Yes. We have had bad arse interior dlinemen for years. Lately they seem to get pushed around. Chavis made some good adjustments in the 2nd half with run blitzes making them look better in the second half.

Hunter wont be going anywhere anytime soon if he doesnt improve significantly throughout the season. He played a pretty bad game this weekend and constantly missed containment.

we need to get another michael Brockers in here which usually demands a double team and allow the rest of the DL to do there thing

I think the big reason everyone is so fired up about the DL is the fact that:

1) at LSU we're known for great DLmen so expectations are high. That and Brick is the man.

2) we don't have GREAT teams without great DLs, just doesn't happen. It's always been the key to our big time successes (aka NCs) so we have to be strong there.

But I agree, I don't think its that bad and I think its going to get a lot better as the season goes on. Wouldn't be surprised if it was a dominant unit by seasons end.

forsure next season the interior DL should be a force to reckoned with cause everyone besides Quinton is coming back

yep. Seems we always had a Lavalais, Dorsey, McFarland type to anchor down the interior and free up the lb's.

when Brockers was here he made the whole DL better literally. He allowed Ming and Sonic Sam to cause havoc off the edge and Bennie to just have to worry about one guy. When he left our DL was good the next year but nothing like when he was here

I know it is amazing how one guy can free up the rest of the line.

Gilmore, Bain and Herron have yet to see the field
Valentine and Trey L will not see the field this year

That's not a very good recruiting strategy

Haley better get it together or Coach O is just a phone call away to throw some money at because you know he can recruit and motivate DL

This dline is one or two major injuries away from being the Wisconsin Dline of the second half

QT95 is a RSJr. He can come back and probably will since his stock is gonna take a hit from his injury.
