RB rankings according to rivals and each RBs opening week performance (attempts-yards):

1. LF 8-18
2. R. Thomas 0-0
3. S. Michel 6-33
4. E. Hood 8-43
5. J. Hurd 11-29
6. N. Chubb 4-70
7. J. Jones 0-0
8. R. Freeman 10-75
9. J. Yerby 1-4
10. H. Choice 0-0

There seems to be a common theme here; it's going to take a few games for freshmen to adjust to the speed of the game.

fournette rushed for more than that but lost a ton of yards on a botched pitch.

not really an accurate account of his rushing yards IMO.

I think he would have done just fine with the 4th quarter carries.

We weren't in a position to see how a freshman reacts there.

AD couldn't have produced much in that first half. He had 3 ypc going into the 4th and Hilliard had 2.4. The passing game really opened it up

well it's how they work

that's like saying any tackle for loss shouldn't go against a RB, too

either way I think he looked a lot better than the numbers show

kid is hard to take down

I guess that's my point. one botched pitch play resulted in like a 15 yard loss. it was an outlier IMO.

I agree.

These stats do not show any nuances.

I hear ya

not to mention the offense had some figuring out to do in the first half all across the board

I look for him to have a good outing vs SH

if the line blocks for him like they did in the 4th quarter, he'll be running all over the damn place

I really didn't see that to be honest. Has anyone tabulated his yards after contact?

He ran it 8 damn times, I don't think we need to be worried about a whole lot of statistics at this time. He did appear to move forward after contact, and definitely has a helluva lean to him.

Everyone needs to calm down with LF's performance. He'll be fine, it was his first game.

To me he seemed very quick to go down after contact and very timid hitting holes. His first few returns looked timid as well. As if he just expected to be given lanes to run in. I think he needed a game like this to settle all expectations for now and let him learn college a little better. He will have a breakout one day but he proved he wasn't ready.

This. But he got his carries against an already beaten down Clemson defense. I believe LF could've been just as successful in 4th as Hilliard had he got the totes ( no disrespect to Hilliard). Glad we have LF excited about future.
