Doves flying through the field, but not coming in to feed?

Very hot today, had some shooting but not like last year. Most of the birds we shot were traveling through the field, and others were staging on the edges. Lots of food on the ground (corn, some sunflower seeds) from plantings.
Are we getting scooped by another food source? What say the OB?

We discussed that as a possibility.

Perhaps you planted your winter corn seeds too deep and at a rate too low for good crop production. Reseed at a rate of 1000lbs per acre.

I eat corn dogs every time I dove hunt. Always limit.
