Good. Deliberately limiting women's access to a legal medical procedure isn't an appropriate role for government.

Well it looks like a pretty crappy law so I would say it was the right ruling. Louisiana should focus more on taking bad laws off the books than putting new ones in them.

The government routinely sets rules for medical procedures. This one required an abortion clinic to be within so many miles of a hospital.

No, it is about the doctor having practicing privileges to a hospital within 30 miles. The 5 clinics are fine where they are.

They're just protecting women in your opinion? That the regulations make it considerably harder to staff an abortion clinic is accidental?

Yea and its an obvious ploy to shut down/limit the number of abortion clinics under the guise of "patient safety." Its just sad so many people are falling for it.

I have no idea if they're protecting women, just saying the regulation isn't necessarily a huge barrier to women getting abortions. I believe there's only a half dozen clinics in that state.

Do abortion doctors not have patient admitting privileges? I'm pretty sure the local abortion clinic doc does.

Not necessarily. Then again, many docs who perform outpatient procedures also don't have admitting privileges. But there is no legislation in the works for them. Makes you wonder what the true goal is here....

If the doctors aren't able to get admitting privileges it is. That there are only a few clinics makes it that much more significant if one can't operate.

I know several other states have this same stipulation, and kind of figured it was done anyway. I suppose clinics that don't have full time doctors would suffer.

Not sure. It doesn't seem to be an uncommon regulation though.

Do you think he should use sexist slurs when doing so?

...for the purpose of limiting a woman's ability to obtain an abortion.

Not really. Its blatantly obvious. The true goal is to harass a woman's Constitutional right to abortion choice as much as possible.

Do you think the partial birth abortion ban is a violation of the constitution?
