Does anyone have any experiance with these ionic air purifiers. How effective are they - do they work as good as they're advertised?

(Sharper Image, ionic Breeze, Ionic Pro, Etc...)

They seem to do "something' because there is a (fresh) smell coming from it.

They are a scam. Plenty of studies to prove it.

I have one in my bedroom and it helps with my dogs sleeping in there. i also have one in my kitchen but it isn't good with dogs due to it popping all the time from dog hair getting sucked through and shorting bars.

I have one of the old Alpine Brand ( I think they were the original maker of these)I think it works well, it gives a good smell, and there seems to be a lot less dust sticking to things.

I guess that would depend on what you want it for..., if it is an allergy thing, you might want to go with the HEPA Type.

Not saying that isn't true, but I have been using this thing since 1994,and I haven't noticed any ill effects.

You are right about it creating ozone, that is where the good smell comes from. Makes the house smell like the air right after a thunderstorm and I really like that smell.

I first read that as Ironic air purifier.

Figured it was something hipsters used to make the air smell like cat pee or something.
