Is this bad for LSU? Manning playing at Ole Miss and his boys never really considering LSU makes me think he might have a bias. When LSU beats Wisconsin, will Alvarez hold a grudge?

Oh yea I realize first game kickoff is not until tomorrow but we must think of these possibilities ad nauseam since this is the Rant and still officially the off season.

The committee hates LSU. We knew that before they announced the members.

The committee idea is a complete fail if they don't pick the top 4 conference champions. The SEC champion will always be considered top 4 for the foreseeable future.

LSU needs to win the conference and that's it.

Archie Manning will go with SEC. Alvarez isn't going to change his opinion of LSU simply due to losing to LSU.

Even if the ACC and Big 12 champs both have 2-3 losses and there is a 1-loss SEC non-champion? The SEC team should go ahead of them in that case.

I thought of that before posting. It would be good for a team that might be one of only two losses to win the NC. The only negative might be the experience AD Alvarez has in Houston.

What if the Big 12 and ACC were just really good and beat themselves up?

How would you feel if it was the opposite situation for the SEC? The SEC was stacked and a team came out with 2-3 losses as champion.

No, the off season ended last night. And your thread sucks even if it were April.

No doubt he hates LSU

But the thing is, those conferences aren't really good. People are saying the ACC is so bad that Florida State may have to go undefeated to secure a spot in the playoff.

Having said that, a champion with 2-3 losses, even from the SEC, shouldn't go in over a 1-loss champion from a power conference. A SEC Champ with 2 losses should probably go in ahead of a 1-loss non-champ from a power conference.

It all depends on the specifics though as far as who the losses were to and by how much. My point is, its stupid to say the top four conference champs should always go in no matter what. There has been huge differences in the quality of conferences. Winning your conference should not always be a prerequisite to making the playoff.

Archie represents an SEC school. The money from an SEC school making it to the NC helps his school no? Don't see why he wouldn't be in any SEC schools favor

I feel if the end goal is to settle it on the field objectively then you remove as much "eye test bullshite" as possible.

Just think of the conference regular season as a playoff to get into the national playoff. I am just of the opinion if my team didn't win their conference why do they get a mulligan over the conference champion to potentially play for the NC. There are too many teams and too few games to just pick teams out of the same conference when they have a conference tournament to shrink down the available teams.

I don't think Manning will discriminate. I don't think he holds grudges. If he did, he wouldn't have let Peyton go to UT.
