Somebody made a $98000 show bet on the favorite in the third at Thistledowns

It came in and paid $2.10 to show. They cleared $4900. Nice when it works, but it has to work 90% of the time just to break even, and it doesn't work 90% of the time.

Are you saying they bet 98000 to win 4800? Congrats to the person for winning, but this is a bet that really doesn't make sense to ever make

That's what I'm saying. It's a dumb bet, but it happens from time to time. I follow a bunch of racetracks, and a big bet like this comes in somewhere in the country every few days. Most of the time they win, but not often enough to cover the losses. That's why they call them bridge jumpers.

in a race that zenyatta won, i believe it was the vanity at hollywood park, i saw the show board go from like 56,000 to 800,000 in one click all on zenyatta.s he won of course.
