FIFA does need to be stricter on players playing after they get a concussion, but all of those rule changes are ridiculous.

I still don't entirely understand how you could say FIFA is negligent for letting them play? Same with the NFL, but not to get too sidetracked. Go after the doctors and the team if you need, but don't go blaming everyone. Headers are part of the damn game

concussions are no joke y'all. I'm a purist as well, but side with Twellman on this issue.
You only have one brain

The nerve of people trying to stop a problem before it reaches NFL levels.

Children under 17 would be limited in how many times they could head the ball.

Really, really stupid. They understand that some U-17s play in senior teams, right?

quote:

The suit also seeks to require professional and other advanced leagues, which are currently limited to three substitutions a game, to allow temporary substitutions while a player is examined for a head injury

This doesn't exist for other injuries, why should it for concussions?

quote:

Medical testing would also be available for soccer players who competed as long ago as 2002 and are now coping with the effects of concussions.

Ok with this and forcing players to sit out after concussions.

Limiting headers is almost impossible, but it's a good thought in theory, especially for youth players.

But having players get temporary subs is really, really smart.

However, the good idea(s) is/are going to get lumped into this "pussificiation" nonsense. It's sad.

Unless you do that for all injuries (like in rugby), then no.

This points to the fact of the matter as to why US will never catch Europe....we won't be willing to play that hard.

Let me repharse.

We won't be willing to let people play that hard. Football is evolving this way right before our eyes. No way we would let that cat from Germany play on like he did....and maybe FIFA shouldn't have either but they did.

I don't now maybe I'm wrong in my reasoning.

The lawsuit linked in the OP is to FIFA. These rules would apply to everybody.

I'm not really sure that a US court could mandate how FIFA regulates the sport in other countries.
