Introducing the Ruger 9E...
Ruger 9E - The Firearm Blog
It's basically what Kahr does with it's PM and CM series of guns. It's a cheaper Ruger SR9 to put it bluntly. Here are the differences:
1. Less machining for the serrations on the slide
2. Less machining for the sights (smaller dovetail) - I REALLY like this as I'm not a huge fan of the factory SR9/40/45 sights
3. The loaded chamber indicator is now simply a small window rather than a large piece that pops up (not to be confused with the "shoulder thing that goes up")
4. Less machining on the slide (not as rounded on the top)
5. Comes with just one mag (uses an SR9 mag)
6. Has a less expensive coating
7. Does not include a loading tool and comes in a cardboard box rather than plastic
The things is DOES retain that I like:
1. The AWESOME trigger. This thing puts a Sigma trigger to absolute shame
2. The same comfortable grip
3. Better sights (just MO of course)
4. Uses the same SR9 mags
I think this is my best suggestion in terms of a budget full size 9mm pistol. Before it was the SR9 but this thing will probably be on the market for $350 or less. One hell of a deal on a nice pistol!

I honestly didn't know you could get cheaper than that.

Me neither.
But this is a genius idea by Ruger. I think they will sell a lot of these.

Ye Old Catapults that had triggering devices carved out of wood and pulled with strings put the old Sigma trigger to shame.

I actually own more S&Ws. By a sizeable margin.
But I love me some American guns no doubt.

I have a few Rugers myself. SR22, LC9, SR9c, 10/22 Takedown, and the Scout .308. Really want a Mini 30 and maybe a SA Revolver.

Lefty easily has me beat in the Ruger department.

I'm a ruger guy, but I'd pass on the Mini 30. Mine only fed reliably with the ruger 5rnd mags. I tried 4 different ruger 20rounders and 10 kinds of ammo. Sold it.

Just 5 right now. But you sold your SR9c, didn't you?

Sigma was a sigma killer. They didn't need any help

Are they going to make it in the compact config? THAT would be cool.
