I agree with Joe Rogan that the pharmaceutical companies don't want it.

Because Obama doesn't care about potheads. Cares more about the gays.

I have not the slightest fricking clue...I suspect it's a terrible reason and probably only enacted to benefit someone

I've watched documentaries on it, it was supposedly banned in the early 1900's because it was thought to be a contributing factor to black violence. Not making this up.

How come they never solved Biggie or Tupac's murders, but OJ Simpson was arrested the next day? Jessica Simpson can't wrap! I HAVE QUESTIONS!!!

I bet it's the evil water companies.

Water companies want people to use more water, especially for things like showering.

Hippies smoked a lot of pot. Pot stinks. Pot makes the hippies stinky and lazy ... too lazy to even shower...hence, less water is used.

So ... the water companies are probably behind this.

That's probably where you should focus your research.

I don't care personally, and it was made illegal in a time where I suspect that's plausible

it's just that would be my first guess...I don't know

it was banned much later than that, more precisely the 30s. And blacks were one reason. Also messicans.

supposedly it made you "horny" and we know black and messicans when they get an erection they are going to rape white woman!

BTW, the reason it remains illegal is three fold
a) pharma - cannabis is a wonder drug, from pain relief to depression to anxiety. Its also cheap, relatively easy to grow and isn't patented. They want it stopped
b) police - police make good money off cannabis prohibition. they don't want that gravy train to stop
c) victorian era sensibility still dominate in older generations. Getting intoxicated for any reason is still looked down on by older folks.

Uh, I would say the 1930's is early 1900's. I knew it was 20's or 30's just wasn't sure enough to say for some fact checker to come along and give me shite

That was cocaine.

Weed laws were initially intended to get rid of Mexicans in the southwest then it was used by the Nixon administration to get rid of hippies who opposed the govt.

There are many things that are outlawed that shouldn't be. People who justify said laws usually have silly reasons for their existence.
