Fun fact: My oldest played basketball for ACU. After 2 yrs in the desert, he moved back to home state. Too far, too hot, too brownish-yellow. Walked on at UT.

They were a Sunbelt team last season but weren't eligible for bowls. They spent 2 seasons as an FCS Independent and then 1 in the Colonial Athletic Association. That's pretty much the blueprint for creating an FBS program from scratch. I believe the NCAA forces the participation in FCS as you build. It's why Charlotte is playing FCS ball right now.
