I'm starting to look at the HTC. I'm hoping the Nexus does materialize. I really want to to play with Project Ara but I don't think my S3 is going to make it.

My #1 priority is signal reception . I've been pleased with my Motorola Droid, but it's having issues.
I guess camera would be a distant 2nd.

Soon the same will be said about htc and lg......folks may think iPhones are designed to be simple tools for old people but their reliability and build quality are second to none.
I remember when erryone was claiming that samsung was destroying apple......lol

My samsung has been great to me. I think the bloatware is the main drawback from me getting another one. I don't want to have to root it.

Moto X is an amazing phone, far better than most people outside of die-hard techies realize and of those named, would be my choice hands-down. Having said that, Motorola is unveiling the new version early next month along with other new models.

There's a decent consensus among Android fans that the HTC One M8 or the LG G3 are the way to go right now. HTC will take better pictures indoors and at night. The G3 has a better all-around camera.
The newest Moto X will be revealed on 9/4, and the iPhone 6 will be revealed on 9/9. You've also got the Note 4 reveal date of 9/3.
So, if you can wait a few weeks, you will have a lot more options (if a newer device is important to you).

dont forget oct timeframe will probably be the release of the nexus 6 considering they're rolling out lollipop for N4 and N5 the 1st week of oct.

I have a Moto X and love it. I've had iPhone and Samsung in the past. I would however wait until next month when the Moto X+1 is released.
Moto X will never blow you away with spec's but without all the bloatware like Touchwiz or Blinkfeed the phone works really really well.

Note 4 next month is the way to go. If you have to have one today the lg g3 is a great phone.
