'We've had a good preseason and are really looking forward to the challenge. I really like how the team is shaping up so far. LSU is a really good team, but we are as well. Hopefully we can use this as momentum to win the conference.'

Physicality of LSU on offense and defense stands out.

Will play both QBs "if need be". Team has handled the process well.
Tanner "really developed", has played in "big time football". "He's grown, developed, understands the offense."
Goal going into camp: "get better at throwing situations."

No lie, dude sounds like someone that hopes to win (of course) but really is looking to see how his "young" team (his words) reacts to the environment and opponent.
In other words, soft-spoken Gary Anderson sounds like he expects to lose, but wants this to be one for his team to grow on going into an otherwise soft OOC schedule, a fairly wide-open Big Ten, and a great conference schedule (no OSU, no UM, no Mich St, Neb at home.
Smart man.

It's called 'sandbagging'. You can bet that's not what he's telling his players.
