Do people actually catch anything when doing that?

I usually use squid since a variety of fish take it.

I have caught flounder, shark, ray, a million hardheads, etc.

Wade out and cast it as far as you can.

Go behind the fort in Fort Morgan if you want to get on some reds.

ETA: You can also cross the bridge at the pass and hang an immediate right to park. You can fish all the way from the bridge pilings, along the jetties to the mouth of the pass.

Decent drum hang in there, maybe a few mackerel.

I know you're being a smartass, but the beach is really a waste of time. Best cause scenario you catch a big nasty drum or MAYBE a bull red. It's literally nothing but trash fish.

The back bays can be another story.

A slot redfish was zipping in between all the people on crab island earlier this summer. I've never seen so many fat bitches trying to jump/roll onto pontoon boats. They thought it was a shark.
