quote:

Who To Watch Out For: Everyone will be paying attention to each team’s respective quarterback situation – will McEvoy produce, and will LSU rotate Anthony Jennings and Brandon Harris? – and the spotlight will be on the LSU super-recruit running back Leonard Fournette going against a true Heisman candidate in Gordon. But the real stars will be up front for each team. LSU’s front five of tackles La’el Collins and Jerald Hawkins, guard Vadal Alexander and Fehoko Fanaika and center Elliot Porter is as good as any in America. Collins and Alexander should be in the NFL, as should Badger tackles Rob Havenstein and Tyler Marz along with guard Dallas Lewallen. Center Dan Voltz guard Kyle Costigan have all-star potential, too.

quote:

What’s Going To Happen: The lack of a dangerous downfield passing threat will be a killer for the Badgers. Kenzel Doe and Jordan Fredrick are okay, but they’ll be erased by the LSU corners, allowing the front seven to bottle up Gordon and keep McEvoy from taking off. LSU’s O line will be brutally effective against a new UW defensive front three that will be fine early, but rocky late

Prediction: LSU 30 … Wisconsin 23

Good write up, except Ethan pocic is starting. You can tell they really did their homework.

Considering that half our fan base didn't know this as of yesterday due to bad information, I won't hold this against them.

Give 'em a break. You can't expect them to rewrite their articles based on "buzz" or yesterday's press conference. They probably let the depth chart trump everything else.

I knew Wisconsin had good offensive line but didn't realize they had all star potential

.
I mean if we are going to talk potential, let's take a look at LSUs most recent recruiting class.

Just an opinion but these OL guys are stars in the B10. With their schedule, our OL would look like the All-Americans in every game. Not to take anything away from them because they are definitly a quality team but I am not buying that they are on the same level as our OL.

They are amazing against Teams like Tennessee St and Purdue

PSU's defense owned them on the road

They are legit, but don't have the depth to stay fresh down the stretch.

If you look at Wisconsin's results from last year, in most of their tougher games they gave up around 30. With them losing their entire front7, it's pretty reasonable to see them giving up around that to LSU.

It’s also going to be an interesting case study in how two teams can do the same thing – for the most part – but one gets top-shelf recruits and the other recruits to a type. Obviously there are differences, but LSU and Wisconsin have each managed to rely on great defense, enough timely passing to get by – give or take a Russell Wilson here and a Zach Mettenberger there – and brutish, powerful running games working behind massively talented O lines that pummel defenses into submission. No matter what happens, it’s going to physical

This part kinda got me jacked up too. Ready to see some physical football. I'm hoping this team is able to impose their will like some of our better teams have.

They performed well vs. South Carolina last year.

Same here. I love these smashmouth type matchups.

It's getting to be a lost art in college football.

Wisconsin hasn’t been all that bad against the SEC in bowl games

Unless you consider 2-7 to be "all that bad" - with the wins coming against Auburn in 2006 and Arkansas in 2007:

1/1/2014 vs. South Carolina (11-2) L 24 34 @ Orlando, FL Capital One Bowl
1/1/2008 vs. Tennessee (10-4) L 17 21 @ Tampa, FL Outback Bowl
1/1/2007 vs. Arkansas (10-4) W 17 14 @ Orlando, FL Capital One Bowl
1/2/2006 vs. Auburn (9-3) W 24 10 @ Orlando, FL Capital One Bowl
1/1/2005 vs. Georgia (10-2) L 21 24 @ Tampa, FL Outback Bowl
12/31/2003 vs. Auburn (8-5) L 14 28 @ Nashville, TN Music City Bowl
1/1/1998 vs. Georgia (10-2) L 6 33 @ Tampa, FL Outback Bowl
12/29/1984 vs. Kentucky (9-3) L 19 20 @ Birmingham, AL Hall of Fame Classic
12/13/1981 vs. Tennessee (8-4) L 21 28 @ East Rutherford, NJ Garden State Bowl

I don't think the Wisconsin receivers will be able to shake LSU's man to man defense, and the Tiger safeties will have a field day.

Why would you not believe. We produce better linemen than LSU. The NFL drsft over the past 7 years pretty much proves it.

I have followed Wisconsin for the last several years from a betting perspective. They are a near lock to cover at home but nowhere near as good on road. I expect we will certainly cover the 4.5 and probably more. We will be running all over them in the 2nd half
